It’s hard to believe we're already halfway through January. It's better late than never to set goals for 2025 and define the initiatives for the year. Below are a few unconventional yet high-impact strategies to focus on in 2025 (in no particular order). These are all items that, when done correctly, can provide a surprising amount of value and help strengthen your org and team.

1. Recalibrate Employee Compensation
It’s often the most tenured employees whose compensation is the most out of sync. Benchmark your agency’s pay structure and prioritize recalibrating compensation this year to ensure fairness and equity at all levels.

2. Streamline Templates & Reports
Inconsistent templates and reports across teams lead to confusion. Consider consolidating them into standardized formats that everyone can use and understand. This improves both internal efficiency and client satisfaction.

3. Define What “Manager” Means
Too often, people are promoted to management roles without proper training. Define the key traits of a successful manager at your org, set clear performance goals (e.g., team happiness, retention, quality of work, etc.), and provide the support needed for success.

4. Make a Decision on RTO & Stick to It
Remote work continues to spark debate, but frequent changes or indecision about return-to-office (RTO) policies create unnecessary anxiety for teams. Evaluate the situation for your agency, make a clear decision, and stick with it to reduce distractions and stay focused.

5. Plan Your 2026 Pricing Now
Waiting until the end of the year to adjust pricing can cost you revenue. Begin planning your 2026 pricing in Q1 by evaluating your current rates and preparing for a smooth transition. Early action ensures you’re not leaving money on the table.

6. Track Employee Happiness
Start tracking employee satisfaction in Q1 and do it consistently (I recommend employee net promoter scores). This data helps inform decisions, and sharing the results openly with your team while addressing any concerns fosters trust and accountability.
